For creators, the ongoing development of AI has been a very unsettling issue because many believe they may soon be replaced. ChatGPT is the most recent technology that has caused anxiety in the hearts of creators, especially writers like me.
The ChatGTP
ChatGPT is a conversational language model that can answer queries in a way that seems natural because it was trained on a huge dataset of conversational transcripts. It is one of the products of the OpenAI AI research lab.
While it is still in the research evaluation stage, the AI-powered chatbot ChatGPT, which is software designed to mimic human communication, was made available to the public on November 30th, 2022 via OpenAI’s website, users can sign up and try it out for free.
Using a sizable artificial intelligence model created by OpenAI and trained on a vast amount of text data from numerous sources, ChatGPT makes use of the GPT-3.5 language technology.
The lab, which was established in 2015 by Elon Musk and Sam Altman, also produced DALL.E 2, an AI program that can produce visuals for you based on your descriptions.
The AI’s human-like responses are derived from publicly accessible datasets thanks to the Generative Pre-training Transformer (GPT) in ChatGPT.
How was ChatGPT built?
Like the majority of AI systems, ChatGPT is learned using data.
However, to predict the subsequent word in natural and conversational English, a large language model (LLM) was trained with a vast amount of data.
Researchers Alex Tamkin and Deep Ganguli from Stanford University claim in their work that “GPT-3 was trained on 570 terabytes of text and has 175 billion parameters.
“ChatGPT was trained using sites like Reddit to comprehend human-like conversation and enhance its humanness and accuracy of responses.
There are general restrictions on ChatGPT, such as restrictions on poisonous responses and the accuracy of answers.
Can AIs like the ChatGPT replace African creators?
Natural human intelligence will continue to be valuable in all fields in the not too distant future. AI won’t be able to replace you if you continue to advance along with technology. There are some aspects of every sector that it can’t even compete with.
Areas where AI can hardly keep up
Emotional depth:
ChatGPT is a language model that has been trained on a sizable text dataset. Although it is capable of producing language that looks to contain emotional content, it is unable to feel those emotions for itself. It is merely a machine that has been programmed to react to specific inputs in a manner like that of a person. It lacks consciousness and emotion.
For instance, the ChatGPT cannot provide an emotional dimension to discussions. This thing only responds to questions that it was fed. Robots will never displace humans in any industry that deals with human emotions.
Human creativity:
Since AI lacks imagination, originality, and a human perspective, it cannot replace online creators. It’s a tool, not a creator, stated Brownlee. One thing is for certain: since machines are programmed to never think creatively, they cannot satisfy the needs of the influencer industry. Artificial intelligence will never be as creatively diverse as people. Therefore, artificial intelligence (AI) will never fully replace creatives.
Ability to distinguish between fact and fiction:
ChatGTP has been trained to detect and understand the context of the text it is given. It is not capable of independently confirming the accuracy of information.
“It’s important to note that ChatGPT is not a fact-checking tool, it’s a language model that generates text based on patterns it has seen in the data it was trained on”. This is what ChatGPT says about why it doesnt give accurate information.
For example, when the AI was used to write an article about ChatGPT, it generated fake quotes and claimed that they were created by John Smith, an OpenAI researcher. ChatGPT is more of an AI system that has been trained to organize words in a way that humans will find interesting; however, it cannot currently detect whether its sources are trustworthy.
Cultural Understanding:
Machine can not see why calling an African mother by her name instead of Mummy Chidera is insulting. AI lacks a thorough comprehension of culture. It has been trained on material produced and authored by people from a variety of cultural backgrounds, but it is unable to comprehend the subtleties and complexity of other cultures. ChatGTP is unable to interpret cultural references or idioms. It is also unable to comprehend the social, historical, and political framework that shapes cultures. It is only capable of repeating the knowledge that it has been taught.
There is still a limit to the advancement of AI that I can beat my chest to say AIs like the ChatGPT cannot replace African creatives any time soon.
How ChatGPT can make creators’ lives easier
ChatGPT is an excellent support AI for creators because it can generate content in a flash. Creators should not ignore this intelligent AI because it is extremely useful.
