YouTube’s decision to create short-form content, YouTube Shorts, was smart and timely, although, it was spurred by the successful launch of TikTok.

Since YouTube started its short-form video initiative in September 2020, it has seen a dramatic increase in monthly users. It had a 28% jump from 1.86 billion to 2.6 billion monthly users over the course of one year.

YouTube Shorts has been able to provide chances for creators to start anything on YouTube without having to strive for an audience. The Explore Page, which is popular on most platforms including Twitter, displays Shorts to users who may be interested in it.

In March 2021, Youtube launched a 100 million dollar fund for short video creators to encourage and support them. This is a 2021/2022 program meaning that the funding will end very soon.

NEW WAYS TO MAKE MONEY FROM YOUTUBE SHORTS

YouTube has created more ways for creators to make even more money from its YouTube Shorts.

AD REVENUE SHARING

This is a form of revenue where creators get 45% of the money made from sponsored adverts on the YouTube Shorts explore page.

According to YouTube, each month all money earned from the advertisements that run between short videos on the site will be tallied up and used to pay Shorts creators and assist them with music licensing. This revenue will be shared with creators according to the number of views they get. Ad revenue sharing on Shorts is a new way for all Short YouTubers—not just those in certain channels—to make money from their work.

SUPER THANKS

Using Super Thanks, YouTube creators can make money from viewers who want to express their appreciation for videos more sincerely than they could with just a like. Viewers can purchase stickers on the video they watch and send comments with these stickers. Creators earn money from this Super Thank You revenue as a result of their viewers’ sticker purchases. This feature is available only in a few countries, including the United States. It will be available to more countries soon.

CREATOR MUSIC REVENUE

Previously, YouTubers were unable to include copyrighted songs in their content or run ads on the videos that used them. There is now a solution! With the help of Creator Music, creators can purchase sounds that they can utilize for commercials and video materials. YouTube will pay the creators of these sounds, and video-makers who use them in their videos will get a commission as well.

Youtube has its creators at heart.

There is a lot of money for content creators in 2023—so start building now! If not on other platforms, build with the video-sharing giant YouTube and garner followers through Shorts with little effort.
