Nigerian singer, Wizkid also known as Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun has today released his fifth album , titled, More Love, Less Ego
This is coming after his fourth album, Made in Lagos, was released in 2020, and a successful Grammy triump in 2019.
Like Made in Lagos, More Love, Less Ego is a depature from his original sound in earlier albums, “Superstar” and “Ayo” to create a more distinct sound that resonates with a global audience.
The spotlight beamed on the 32 year old when he premiered Essence, with Temilade Openiyi (Tems) starring alongside him, in the summer of 2020.
The song peaked on Billboard 100 at number nine spending 35 weeks on the chart in the remix featuring Justin Bieber, bringing Wizkid to the world. Just recently, Made In Lagos become the first African album to have a run of 100 weeks on the Billboard world album chart. This is coming about 11 years since his first album, Superstar, was released in 2011.
The Grammy Award winner confirmed the release of the album, with a tweet saying, “More Love, Less Ego” out worldwide! Love you!”
The 13-track album includes features by Ayra Starr, Skillibeng, Sheen sea, Naira Marley, Skepta, and Don Toliver. Each and every one of these music superstars adds their creative eloquence to the sound to make a feel-good music appeal, that is not just sublime, but artistic and sensual at the same time.
Even with all the battle (of global domination) in his mind, the singer just wants to stay true to his usual mantra of love.
“Everyone fights with their ego and that’s where I am at. I am still trying to shed my ego, like everyone else,” he admits in an interview.
